Class Characteristics

While the Acolyte is an INT based caster, the Monk is a STR based melee fighter, who will receive bonuses from both the STR and the INT stat.

The Monk's skills will exclusively use Attack Power as their damage source, whilst the Acolyte's skill exclusively use Magic Power as their damage source. To allow Acolytes to stack INT, the Monk receives a full skill reset on class change (after which he is no longer able to invest in Acolyte Skills) and the top skills all receive 1 skill point as if you were to start a level 1 Acolyte. The top right skill, Spiritual Cadence, is a passive that grants the Monk 2 Attack Power for every point of INT, effectively allowing the Monk to build INT until his class change without losing any offensive power. Therefore in a party where Battle Order and Dragonology gives 10% increase in both STR and INT respectively, Monks have the biggest advantage in those buffs.
Class Change
In order to change your class to a Monk at Level 25, look for Red Lotus Monk Pei, in Prontera. After you completed her quest, talk to Pei again to change your class.
In a Party
Tank
Because of Iron Skin, which increases Threat generation by 300% as well as the Monk's HP and defense, Monks can tank dungeons without the fear of losing a monster's attention. Flee and Protection Ki (combined with Summon Spirit Sphere to reset their cooldowns) provide high damage mitigation in tight situations.
Melee DPS / Off Tank
The Monk provides good melee DPS with his normal combo and Asura strike. Lightning Walk provides high mobility to intercept monsters targeting vulnerable party members and Lightning Crush rapidly generates threat in an area to ensure the aggression is on the Monk.
